I thought, what a treasure! Those days of many little ones are now gone for her, she is in a new era now...but the memories, they fade so quickly especially when you have so many children, so MANY, many first teeth, so many firsts, and so many lasts. I am so glad I started blogging way back when, too, but. I stopped when I got my phone in August 2012 just because, I am never on the computer anymore...and it is a huge pain to type out long blog posts on my phone. It has become my personal computer - VERY very awesome, but still...no more blogging as a result.
So here I am. Back again, for now anyway. To record for ME, so I remember. And maybe for my children someday who will read this. I recently found a picture of my family when I was growing up, I was maybe 4 years old.
I saw my mom sitting there with her hands full - four children ages 6 & under. She had no idea that she would go on to have 7 more children after this! I found myself wondering how old she was (28? I think) and how life was for her. Did she get tired? When she did, how did she handle it? She was probably pregnant in this picture too. And the children, what were they like? What did she enjoy about them, what was *I* like at 4 (on the far left)? Was I a big helper with the baby, was I reading yet? Did the curls that fell out of my hair bug me as much as they bug my now 7 year old daughter with the same curls?
As these thoughts went through my head, I realized that I need to keep on blogging. For the first time ever, I now have a baby who is almost two years old, and I am not pregnant. This is a new era for me! And even if I DO get pregnant, which we are not planning on any more children, but if I *do* (because I know I am verrrrry fertile) -- I will want to look back and remember these days.
So with that being said, I am hoping to blog a few days every week to just detail the things that are important to me, funny things the children say, things I enjoy about my life. And things I want to remember, or want my children to remember. I want my daughter Rachel who is now 14, and someday may be at the point where she has five children and is pregnant -- again.
What if God takes me home, before I get to see her go through Motherhood? What questions will she wish she could ask me, what will she wonder about me? So this is going to be my legacy to my children, if they ever want to read it. And for myself, when I am my mother's age now who is 59 with 11 children and 20 grandchildren...what will I want to remember about these busy days with 8 children ages 14-1 year?
Lest THIS post become way too long, I will sign off now and get started on an update to my life as it is now, a full year after my last post. =)
